Thanks Apple. It Was a Hell of a Ride. (Emails from Steve Jobs)

I’ve been extremely critical of Apple over the last 3 years.  As some may know I spent 5 years working in Apple retail in a number of different roles and when you’re working for them you tend not to be very critical.

But it’s time to end that.  The Apple of 2017 is far different from the Apple of 2009 I signed up to work for.  Some notable things that were different in 2009 include the iPad didn’t exist yet. iPods were one of Apple’s top selling product line, and maybe the most important Ron Johnson and Steve Jobs were still a the top of the totem pole.

Although I never met Steve Jobs it was still great when he would send company wide emails out about the company’s successes.  In this case the iPad after the holiday season.

Or when Apple surpassed Microsoft in Market Cap.

I know it was only an email but at the time you felt connected to him changing the world.  Many of you are reading this thanks to devices he made.  He rarely rewarded employees except his annual “Steve Jobs Days”, as we ended up calling them.

Even the saddest email of them all.  This was the last company wide email he sent our before his passing in 2011.

Apple would never be the same again.  That used to bother me but not anymore.  I can’t expect to have one of the most innovative thinkers on the planet to just have someone on deck to take his place.  It’s just impossible.  So with that I say, “Thanks for the ride Apple.” Although I never contributed to the end result much or at all, it was great to feel apart of it.  I can only hope to whitness another brilliant revolution like the ones Steve provided, in my lifetime.
